Get To Know Your Candidates: Sharon

My name is Sharon Marcello. I am a single mom of 5 children: Marissa Pratt, Sophia Marcello, Dominick Marcello, Nathaniel Marcello, and the late Anthony Marcello; three of which are still at home.  I am a grandmother to a beautiful 18 month old whom I adore.

                                      

To begin, I am a lifelong resident of Cranston attending Glen Hills Elementary, Western Hills Middle School, and then Cranston High School West. I earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Rhode Island College and a Master’s of Special Education from Providence College. Completing student teaching at Glen Hills Elementary School was a wonderful experience.

Equally important, I am a self-contained special educator for grades 1-4. I have taught in this position for 28 years in 6 elementary schools throughout the district. In addition to teaching, I have been a Special Olympics coach, and an Extended School Year teacher. I host practicum students and student teachers from RIC, URI, PC, and JWU, many who are now educators in Cranston. I have sat on interview committees and accreditation committees for PC and RIC. 

Certainly, Cranston is a beautiful city which encompasses amazing history, extraordinary culture, wonderful schools and many splendid attractions. I could never imagine living or working anywhere else.
